Ireland: Permits Foundation submits evidence recommending direct work access for partners of intra-company transferees
09 June 2023Permits Foundation has today submitted supporting evidence to government departments in Ireland, recommending that direct work access be extended to spouses and partners of Intra-Company Transfer (ICT) Employment Permit holders.
In the paper, the Foundation applauds the government for taking the decision in 2019 to allow spouses and partners of Critical Skills Employment Permit holders to access the Irish labour market via Stamp 1G. Permits Foundation recommends that the government also extend direct employment authorisation to spouses and partners of intra-company transferees as is the case in most other countries across the European region, and many other countries worldwide.
The submission includes supporting data from the Foundation’s 2022 dual careers surveys, feedback from international companies as well as a global overview of countries around the world that already authorise employment access for dependants of ICTs. The paper makes the case that policy change would help make Ireland a more attractive business destination by aiding talent attraction and retention and supporting diversity, equity and inclusion.
