Permits Foundation writes to India’s Minister of State for Home Affairs
29 June 2019Permits Foundation has written to Mr Nityanand Rai, Minister of State for Home Affairs in India, advocating for direct employment permission for spouses of intra-company transferees.
The letter, which requests a meeting with the Minister, highlights recent positive developments in India’s visa system. Permits Foundation applauds the creation of the E-3 visa category for intra-company transferees and E-3X for their spouses.
We propose that the Indian government make one further amendment to the conditions attached to the E-3X visa so that spouses holding an E-3X visa are permitted to take up employment or self-employment for the duration of the visa.
This amendment, welcomed by employers, mobile employees and families, would help to make India a preferred destination for the global talent pool.
